According to VARA, KuCoin does not hold any license to provide virtual asset services in or from Dubai. Consequently, any activities related to virtual assets advertised or conducted by the company are in breach of VARA Regulations. The regulator also stated that any promotion, advertising, or solicitation related to KuCoin has not been approved by VARA, and the company is prohibited from offering, promoting, or marketing any virtual asset products or services in Dubai or to its residents. Consumers and investors in Dubai have been advised to avoid engaging with KuCoin.
This alert from VARA follows a similar action by Austria's financial regulator just a few weeks prior, which prohibited the European arm of KuCoin from conducting new business and onboarding customers due to a shortage of appropriate compliance staff.
