SWIFT has initiated live trials based on Blockchain technology, spotlighting XRP and HBAR coins. This global payment network manages over $150 trillion in annual transactions, and even a fraction of this migrating to Blockchain could significantly increase demand for altcoins. XRP stands out for instantaneous settlement and liquidity management, while HBAR is recognized for its scalability and corporate governance capabilities.
SWIFT’s live Blockchain trials present Ripple’s XRP and Hedera’s HBAR as strong candidates for facilitating cross-border payments and tokenized asset transfers. Both networks boast impressive speed, cost efficiency, and scalability. The trials aim to merge bank payment messaging with Blockchain-backed infrastructure, and both altcoins present architectures suited to meet this requirement.
Even a minimal shift of SWIFT’s $150 trillion annual fund transfers to Blockchain could reshape market dynamics. XRP’s rapid settlement and liquidity bridging capabilities allure banks, while HBAR’s robust transaction capacity and enterprise governance framework offer a solid foundation for tokenization-centric corporate deployments, sparking investor interest.
XRP boasts a consensus time of 3–5 seconds. Through the Ripple Protocol Consensus (RPCA), it achieves a capacity of approximately 1,500 transactions per second (TPS). Governance within the network advances through the UNL validator list and Ripple-related partners. The energy consumed per transaction is around 0.0079 kWh. Its primary application is in cross-border payments and money transfers, with banks and payment providers like Santander and SBI leading in adoption.
HBAR, on the other hand, offers a consensus time of approximately 3 seconds. Utilizing the Hashgraph “gossip + virtual voting” (aBFT) approach, it surpasses 10,000 TPS and is further scalable through sharding. The Governance Council, comprising 39 members including Google and IBM, drives its governance. HBAR transactions consume approximately 0.000003 kWh of energy and are carbon negative. Its focus is on tokenization and corporate applications, with large enterprises and tech giants like Google and Boeing taking notice in its adoption.
