Cameron Scrubs, founder of Tradeship University, has added his voice to a growing group of market commentators making bold projections for XRP. In a recent post on X, Scrubs predicted that by the end of the decade, XRP will surpass both Bitcoin and Ethereum to become the world’s leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization.
At present, XRP represents about 4.4% of the global crypto market, while Bitcoin dominates with nearly 60%. For XRP to achieve the scenario Scrubs describes, its share would need to expand dramatically, pushing it past the two largest digital assets within the next five years.
Assessing the Feasibility
The gap between XRP and Bitcoin remains substantial. Bitcoin currently holds a market capitalization exceeding $2.36 trillion, compared to XRP’s $177 billion. This $2.2 trillion difference highlights the steep climb XRP would face.
Based on today’s figures, XRP would need to appreciate more than thirteen times its current value, trading at approximately $39, to reach parity with Bitcoin’s existing valuation.

However, this estimate assumes Bitcoin does not grow further, which many analysts believe is unrealistic. Several influential figures in the industry, including executives from Coinbase, Cardano, BitMEX, and Telegram, have suggested Bitcoin could approach $1 million by 2030.
If those forecasts materialize, Bitcoin’s valuation could exceed $20 trillion. For XRP to match such a level, it would require a price above $335, a target that even many XRP supporters consider improbable within the decade.
Scrubs’ optimism is not unique. XRP advocate Coach JV made a similar claim that XRP would eventually surpass Bitcoin. Still, other market voices urge caution. Influencer Ben Armstrong, also known as BitBoy, has argued that while XRP may see significant appreciation, Bitcoin’s dominance rests on its decentralized structure.
In his view, XRP’s efficiency in transaction processing makes it an attractive asset, but Ripple’s large token holdings, estimated at more than 40% of supply, continue to raise centralization concerns.
From Armstrong’s perspective, XRP could close the gap with Bitcoin but is unlikely to replace it at the top of the market. Instead, he sees XRP securing a stronger position by 2030 while Bitcoin maintains its lead.
Possible Growth Drivers for XRP
Despite skepticism, some industry watchers point to several factors that could drive XRP’s expansion in the coming years. Financial institutions and payment providers are already exploring XRP’s use in cross‑border settlement, citing its transaction speeds of around seven seconds. Large‑scale adoption in this area could provide meaningful demand for the asset.
In addition, upcoming developments such as the anticipated Ripple initial public offering and the introduction of exchange‑traded funds (ETFs) backed by XRP are seen as potential catalysts for wider institutional interest.
While Cameron Scrubs envisions XRP surpassing Bitcoin and Ethereum by 2030, the data shows this outcome would be difficult. The enormous market cap gap, coupled with Bitcoin’s projected growth, makes such a shift unlikely within the next five years.
However, developments such as institutional adoption, ETF approvals, and Ripple’s potential IPO could still elevate XRP’s role in the industry. Even if it does not become the number‑one cryptocurrency, XRP has the potential to secure a far greater share of the market than it holds today.
