What is ZEN
ZEN is the core digital asset that fuels the Horizen ecosystem. It was initially introduced as a Proof of Work currency with a fixed limit of twenty one million units. As Horizen expanded and transitioned to a more advanced infrastructure through Base, ZEN adopted the ERC20 token format to improve compatibility, liquidity, and integration within Ethereum based applications.
Within the network, ZEN is used for transaction fees, interactions with applications built on zero knowledge technology, and participation in governance processes. Holders can also contribute to initiatives that advance the ecosystem, supporting both development and long term sustainability.
