Mobile Wallet and Stablecoin Payments to be Pre-loaded on Xiaomi Smartphones
Sei (SEI), a prominent altcoin, has announced a significant partnership with Xiaomi, the world's third-largest smartphone manufacturer. This collaboration marks a substantial step towards integrating cryptocurrency functionalities directly into mainstream mobile devices.
Under the terms of the agreement, all new Xiaomi smartphones sold outside of China and the United States will come pre-loaded with a next-generation cryptocurrency wallet and discovery application. Furthermore, the partnership aims to implement stablecoin payments across Xiaomi's extensive global retail network, with a planned rollout beginning in the second quarter of 2026.
Web3 Features and Target Markets
The newly developed application is designed to offer a comprehensive suite of Web3 features. These include simplified one-click onboarding processes utilizing Google and Xiaomi ID, a secure wallet infrastructure powered by Multi-Party Computation (MPC), access to a variety of decentralized applications (dApps), peer-to-peer (P2P) transfer capabilities, and seamless consumer-to-merchant payment options.
The initial focus for the rollout will be on key markets including Europe, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. These regions represent some of Xiaomi's strongest existing market presences, suggesting a strategic approach to adoption.
A New Era of Mobile Finance
In a statement regarding the collaboration, Sei described the partnership with Xiaomi as ushering in "the new era of mobile finance."
"Powered by Sei, this next-generation financial application designed for stablecoin payments will be deeply integrated into the Xiaomi ecosystem. Money will now be an instant, built-in experience on your phone."
Global Mobile Innovation Program Launched
To further support and accelerate this transformative initiative, Sei has also announced the launch of a $5 million Global Mobile Innovation Program. This program is dedicated to fostering the development and deployment of blockchain-based real-world applications directly onto consumer devices.
