SCOR, the protocol for programmable sports IP and verifiable on-chain fandom, today announced its Cross-Chain Wallet Linking feature for SCOR-ID. This revolutionary initiative is designed to breathe new life into tens of thousands of dormant sports NFTs by allowing fans to verify ownership of assets across multiple blockchains such as Tezos, Ethereum, and Polygon, and instantly unlock utility within the SCOR gaming ecosystem.
For years, sports fans have collected digital assets representing their favorite teams and athletes. However, many of these collections now sit idle in isolated wallets, lacking any real-world application or interoperability. SCOR’s new portal elegantly solves this problem by allowing users to cryptographically link these external wallets to their SCOR-ID, turning static collectibles into tangible in-game advantages without ever moving the original asset.
CEO's Vision for Utility and Identity
"We see millions of dollars and tens of thousands of fans locked into collections that have lost value and no current utility," said Tom Mizzone, CEO at Sweet, SCOR Foundation’s Lab Co. "We’re turning isolated collections into a unified gaming identity without forcing holders to migrate assets. By securely linking their wallet history to their SCOR-ID, we can instantly recognize their sports fandom and reward it with tangible gameplay upgrades within the SCOR ecosystem."
How Cross-Chain Wallet Linking Works
The new process leverages a secure verification system that updates the user's SCOR-ID metadata to reflect their external holdings:
- Connect & Sign (SCOR-ID): The user connects their Base wallet (holding their SCOR-ID) to the portal.
- Verify External Wallet: The user connects the target wallet (holding their pro sports NFTs) on the external network (e.g., Tezos or Ethereum).
- Automatic Update: Sweet's backend verifies signatures, and updates the SCOR-ID token to reflect the external network and address, adding a new trait-type ("Tezos Address").
- Visualize & Earn: When the user logs in to fun.scor.io, Sweet visualizes the user's cross-chain inventory.
Extensive Roster of Athletes and Collections
With more than 2,000 athletes already on SCOR, the platform boasts a massive lineup ranging from cricket legends like Rashid Khan, Ben Stokes, Pat Cummins, Chris Gayle, and Ellyse Perry to golf icon Arnold Palmer, top-tier tennis superstars such as Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka, Nick Kyrgios, and Barbora Krejčíková, boxing heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, and hockey icons Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, Mark Messier, Nicklas Lidstrom, Ray Bourque, Jean Béliveau, and Steve Yzerman - alongside thousands more across basketball, soccer, and football to be announced.
Fans can reference a live, searchable list of eligible collections directly on the portal to confirm if their assets such as specific LA Lakers drops or CR7 collectibles qualify for activation.
Gameplay Advantages and Asset Sovereignty
Verifying ownership of these legacy assets provides players with significant gameplay advantages, such as gem multipliers and exclusive perks, allowing them to collect gems that may be converted to $SCOR tokens at an accelerated rate.
Critically, this approach respects the sovereignty and intellectual property of the original collectibles. Because the system relies on reading and indexing data rather than duplicating artwork or minting derivative NFTs, the user's original assets remain untouched in their secure wallets.
Transforming Fandom into Active Rewards
"This is about utility and identity," added Raymond Lew, EVP of Product at Sweet. "That CR7 or Lakers collectible is a badge of honor, but for many, the reality of ownership simply hasn't lived up to the hype. By linking that wallet to their SCOR-ID, we turn that passive proof of fandom into an active functional key that finally rewards them."
