Ripple has successfully closed a $500 million strategic investment round, valuing the company at $40 billion. The round was led by Fortress Investment Group and Citadel Securities, with participation from other significant investors including Pantera Capital, Galaxy Digital, Brevan Howard, and Marshall Wace.
Strategic Growth and Market Position
This substantial funding follows Ripple's recent $1 billion tender offer, which was also conducted at the same $40 billion valuation. CEO Brad Garlinghouse characterized this latest raise as the culmination of the firm's strongest year on record, a period marked by the significant settlement of its nearly five-year legal dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
During 2025, Ripple engaged in strategic acquisitions totaling over $4 billion. Key acquisitions included the prime broker Hidden Road for $1.25 billion, the treasury management firm GTreasury for $1 billion, and the custody provider Palisade. These moves have expanded Ripple's capabilities and market reach.
The company has also been active in providing liquidity for its stakeholders, having repurchased more than 25% of its outstanding shares in recent years. This initiative has benefited both employees and early investors by offering them liquidity. The introduction of new institutional equity holders in this latest round underscores the strong interest from Wall Street funds.
Expansion of Ripple Payments and Products
Ripple Payments has demonstrated significant volume, processing over $95 billion in total transactions. This volume was achieved using both XRP and Ripple's own stablecoin, Ripple USD (RLUSD). The integration of Hidden Road has given rise to Ripple Prime, a digital asset prime brokerage that now offers institutional clients collateralized lending and XRP-based products.
Since the acquisition of Hidden Road, average daily transactions have tripled. Client collateral has also doubled recently, indicating growing institutional adoption and confidence. The infusion of new capital is expected to further strengthen Ripple's ties with traditional finance institutions as the company continues its push into institutional markets.
Growth of RLUSD Stablecoin and Corporate Solutions
Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin has achieved a significant milestone, crossing a $1 billion market capitalization less than a year after its launch. This dollar-backed token is designed for regulated use cases, including treasury functions, settlement, and collateral management.
The integration of GTreasury provides Ripple with access to a vast pool of traditional corporate clients, many of whom are Fortune 500 firms managing trillions in liquidity. This platform is enabling corporate treasurers to explore blockchain-based financial operations by offering on-chain liquidity and 24/7 stablecoin settlement capabilities.
