The Nigerian Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially dismissed reports circulating on various social media platforms indicating that it has opened its recruitment portal. This clarification comes as the commission is actively preparing for the upcoming recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.
Official Statement on Fake Recruitment Portals
In a statement published on its official website on Monday, the PSC explicitly labeled the viral publications as fake. The commission described these deceptive posts as an attempt by fraudsters to scam and exploit innocent Nigerians, aiming to obtain their vital personal details.
“The general public is hereby informed that these publications are fake and entirely misleading. They are the handiwork of fraudsters attempting to exploit innocent citizens,”

The commission emphatically reiterated that neither the recruitment portal has been opened nor has the 2025 recruitment into the Nigerian Police Force commenced. It further assured the public that any official announcement regarding the commencement of the recruitment process will be made exclusively by authorized bodies and disseminated through official, verified platforms.
“We urge Nigerians to rely only on information published through these official channels. Any recruitment portal not listed on our website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police,”
The PSC emphasized in its statement that official communication channels for the recruitment exercise will include advertisements in reputable national newspapers, announcements posted on its verified website (www.psc.gov.ng), and formal press releases. These channels will be utilized to ensure proper dissemination of information once the recruitment process officially begins.
Preparations Underway for 2025 Nigerian Police Force Recruitment
While the Police Service Commission has yet to open the official portal for the 2025 recruitment into the Nigerian Police Force, preparations for the exercise have already commenced. The commission has indicated that it is moving forward diligently in compliance with the Presidential directive to recruit 30,000 police officers.
To facilitate the necessary preparations, the PSC has established a Joint Ad-hoc Committee tasked with driving the recruitment process and ensuring all preliminary arrangements are made. The emergence of information regarding the upcoming recruitment exercise appears to be exploited by fraudsters, who are leveraging Nigeria's high unemployment rate to defraud unsuspecting citizens.
“Any purported recruitment portal not published on the Commission’s official website is fraudulent and should be reported to the police accordingly,”

Comparison with Other Security Agency Recruitment
In parallel to the preparations for the Nigerian Police Force recruitment, other security agencies are progressing through their respective recruitment stages. The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services have reached the fourth stage of their process, which involves Physical Screening and Document Verification. Applicants who successfully passed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) have begun receiving notifications regarding their assigned dates and venues.
During the third stage, an online CBT exercise, a significant number of applicants participated. Out of the 872,391 applicants who took the online exam, 650,395 obtained the pass mark, scoring between 41 and 100. Notably, only 142,697 applicants achieved scores above 80, representing 25.4% of those who completed the exam.
