Litecoin MWEB Upgrade Enhances Privacy and Scalability
The Litecoin Foundation has provided an update on its ongoing efforts to enhance transaction privacy. Recently, a video was shared explaining the benefits of the MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB).
This update allows users to move Litecoin between regular and MWEB addresses without requiring additional steps. Wallets like Nexus and Cake Wallet now support this feature, making it easier for users to opt for privacy in their transactions.
Since the launch of MWEB, the amount of Litecoin moved into the privacy layer has been steadily increasing. As of late, over 164,000 LTC have been pegged into confidential transactions, reflecting growing user confidence in this privacy-enhancing feature.
Litecoin’s Technical Outlook Shows Market Caution
However, the LMACD indicator is approaching a bearish crossover, suggesting that Litecoin’s price might face downward pressure if this trend continues. If the support level at $85 breaks, the next potential support could be near $80.
In contrast, some analysts point out a potential upward divergence in the LMACD, which could signal strength and a possible price rebound.
According to Tony Severino, a chartered market technician, he has decided to stay out of Litecoin positions until more clarity emerges about its direction. With a 24-hour trading volume of over $500 million, Litecoin’s market remains active, though caution persists among traders.

The Litecoin Foundation has emphasized the importance of MWEB in its long-term roadmap. MWEB, alongside upgrades like Taproot, strengthens the security of the Litecoin network. The integration of MWEB into Litecoin’s core tools makes it easier for users to opt for privacy without adding complexity.
Aldo Jones, a community member, mentioned that scalability and simplicity were key considerations when choosing MWEB over other privacy solutions. This decision ensures that Litecoin remains lightweight and adaptable for high-volume payments.
