Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has once again voiced his skeptical views on Bitcoin, suggesting that the cryptocurrency might have been created by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Carlson made these remarks during his appearance at the Turning Point USA event held at Indiana University. He reiterated his long-held speculation regarding the origins of Bitcoin and presented his theory that the CIA could be behind its creation.
Carlson's Stance on Investment
Carlson stated that he has not invested in Bitcoin and has no intention of doing so. He emphasized his general avoidance of investing in assets he does not fully comprehend, particularly those with questionable origins.
He pointed to the enduring mystery surrounding Bitcoin's pseudonymous founder, Satoshi Nakamoto, as a primary reason for his distrust. According to Carlson, this lack of clarity about Nakamoto's identity prevents him from considering an investment in BTC.
“I try to limit myself to what I understand. To this day, no one has been able to explain who Satoshi Nakamoto really is.
This bothers me and that's why I don't plan on investing in Bitcoin.
At this point, I think Bitcoin may have been created by the CIA. That's my guess. But I can't prove it.”
Questions Regarding Dormant Funds
Carlson also raised questions about the vast sums of Bitcoin, amounting to billions of dollars, that are linked to Nakamoto's accounts and have remained untouched over the years.
“Would you invest in something whose founder is unknown and controls billions of dollars of dormant Bitcoin?”
Ultimately, Carlson's decision not to invest in Bitcoin stems from his concerns about trust and transparency, leading him to theorize that the CIA was behind its creation.
Satoshi Nakamoto's Holdings
According to data from the on-chain intelligence platform Arkham Intelligence, the wallet associated with Satoshi Nakamoto currently holds approximately 1.096 million BTC, valued at around $120 billion.
The Mystery of Bitcoin's Founder
Bitcoin, recognized as the leading cryptocurrency, was introduced in 2009 by an individual or group operating under the alias Satoshi Nakamoto. The true identity of Nakamoto remains an enigma, fueling various theories about their background.
This persistent mystery surrounding Bitcoin's creator has, as Carlson noted, contributed to speculation that governments or major organizations might be involved in its inception.
