Coinbase Markets announced Wednesday that BNB has joined its official listing roadmap, marking the first time the exchange signaled support for its competitor's flagship token. Trading will begin once market-making support and sufficient technical infrastructure are established.
The native token of Binance's ecosystem ranks as the world's fourth-largest digital asset by market capitalization at $164 billion. BNB launched through an initial coin offering in 2017 and can be used for transaction fees on Binance's platform.
The asset has historically been difficult to access in the United States market. Kraken listed the token in April with a “Stronger together” message on social media. Coinbase's move extends accessibility to its user base despite BNB lacking utility within the San Francisco-based exchange's ecosystem.
BNB outperformed Bitcoin and Ethereum over the past year, rising 98 % from $593 to $1,165. The token recently surged to new all‑time highs, peaking around $1,370 on Monday. Price momentum coincides with U.S. regulators adopting more collaborative approaches to the cryptocurrency industry.
Analysts point to growing interest in BNB Chain‑based decentralized exchange Aster as a factor driving recent rallies. The blockchain network continues to expand its DeFi ecosystem and attract developer activity. Immediately after the announcement, BNB jumped 2 % to $1,175 before settling back.
Hours before revealing the listing plans, Coinbase published a blog post introducing “The Blue Carpet,” a new suite of tools and transparency measures for asset issuers. The company reaffirmed its policy of not charging listing or application fees for digital assets.
Jesse Pollak, creator of Coinbase's Ethereum layer‑2 network Base, recently stated on social media that “it should cost 0% to be listed on an exchange.” The listing announcement follows industry discussions about exchange standards and token accessibility across major crypto trading platforms.
