Veteran trader Peter Brandt says Bitcoin could reclaim its all-time high of $125,100 within the next week. However, he warns that one more major correction may occur first.
“Either a huge shakeout, which would be confirmed by an ATH quickly within the next week or so,” Brandt stated, “or a violation of the parabola,” acknowledging a more bearish scenario remains possible.
He added that parabola violation “every time in the past has produced a 75% price decline. I think the day of the 80% decline is over, but perhaps back to $50,000‑$60,000 and test the lower skin of the banana,” Brandt explained regarding historical patterns.
The crypto market crashed on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump announced 100% tariffs on Chinese goods. This resulted in over $19 billion in liquidations across the market.
Bitcoin dropped from around $121,000 to as low as $102,000 on Friday. The asset has since rebounded to approximately $112,400 at publication time, according to CoinMarketCap data.
“If anything, this weekend was a reminder you have to be so careful with leverage, and even multiples above 1.5x are dangerous,” Capriole Investments founder Charles Edwards told reporters. He described his outlook for the coming weeks simply as “up,” viewing weekend volatility as temporary.
Other analysts cite broader macroeconomic signals indicating fresh capital could flow into cryptocurrency markets soon. BitMEX co‑founder Arthur Hayes said a buying opportunity may be presenting itself after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signaled that quantitative tightening “is over.”
“Back up the truck and buy everything,” Hayes stated. Quantitative easing typically proves bullish for crypto by encouraging bank lending and making borrowing cheaper through lower interest rates.
Swyftx lead analyst Pav Hundal noted that “the fundamental economic data is the big story for Bitcoin right now.” He pointed to inflation facing pressure from lower oil prices and demand, while the U.S. labor market shows distress signs.
U.S. inflation reached 2.90% in August, the highest level since January. “The Fed has a mandate to target full employment, and it all just feels inevitable that we’ll see further rate cuts this month. This is a goldilocks zone for Bitcoin,” Hundal said.
Macroeconomist Lyn Alden recently said on a podcast appearance that she’s leaning “toward this next quarter being probably pretty favorable” for Bitcoin.
