Changpeng Zhao (CZ), a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency industry, has issued a new warning regarding a memecoin associated with a statue recently erected in front of the US Capitol in Washington D.C.
CZ cautioned against purchasing the memecoin, identified as CZSTATUE, which was created in connection with his likeness. He stated on the social media platform X that the memecoin is an attempt to capitalize on his name and urged the public not to buy it.
Furthermore, CZ expressed his refusal to accept the statue as a gift, deeming it overly egoistic for an individual to display a statue of themselves in their own home.
While I want to appreciate the gesture, the fact that there is a meme coin associated with this means the creator probably just wanted to make a quick buck off an interaction from me. This is something I don't appreciate. Don't buy the meme.
I would also never accept a statue of myself either. Which egoist would keep a statue of himself in his home?
Previously, a group led by Nick Zee had announced plans to display the statue for a limited time. Following the display, the statue was intended to be gifted to Zhao or auctioned to benefit Giggle Academy, an education project he leads.
