As Bitcoin (BTC) moves close to record levels again, the bullish wave in the cryptocurrency market continues to attract investors' attention.
Speaking on CNBC's Squawk Box program, Professional Capital Management CEO Anthony Pompliano evaluated the dynamics and investor interest behind Bitcoin's rise.
Pompliano argued that BTC's success is based on a simple yet powerful logic: “Central banks will never stop printing money. Therefore, the value of BTC will continue to increase in the long run,” he said. According to Pompliano, Bitcoin should be viewed as a “savings technology.” “People save what they earn, reduce their spending, and direct their remaining savings into BTC. This increases the value of BTC over time,” he said.
Pompliano, highlighting the complex structure of traditional financial markets, said, “When investing in the stock market, you need to follow companies, products, interest rates, and balance sheets. However, with Bitcoin, the story is much simpler.”
According to Pompliano, BTC is becoming the “new benchmark” for modern finance. “Since 2020, the S&P 500 has risen 100%, but in BTC terms, it's lost 90% of its value. So, no one can beat BTC. That's why most investors are now saying, 'If we can't beat it, let's buy Bitcoin,'” he explained.
Pompliano also noted that the supply of BTC is becoming increasingly stagnant: “Many investors are now holding Bitcoin for the long term and are not even considering selling it. This squeezes the supply, making the price inevitably rising.”

Pompliano, who also acknowledged that BTC has lagged behind gold this year, said the two assets are essentially “allies in the store of value war.” He said, “Gold investors may have the advantage now, but the year isn't over. Historically, BTC's fourth-quarter performance averages 60%. Looking at the five-year period, gold is up 100%, while Bitcoin is up 1,000%.”
Pompliano commented on the profile of Bitcoin and gold investors: “Gold holders are generally older, traditional investors. However, Bitcoin is 15 years old, and that investor base is also aging. We may soon see even central banks adding BTC to their reserves.”
Pompliano concluded his remarks by saying, “Bitcoin is gold with wings.”
