Michaël van de Poppe says the market is entering a phase where the first early signals for an altcoin breakout are finally starting to show.
In his view, Ethereum has already displayed more resilience than Bitcoin over the past month, something he considers an important early indicator that capital may soon rotate deeper into the altcoin market.
Van de Poppe frames the question many traders are asking: when will altcoins begin to move? According to him, the groundwork is being laid right now, but a few major confirmations still need to happen before a full altcoin rally becomes realistic.
Bitcoin Needs a Break Above $92K

For a broader altcoin rally to start, Bitcoin must break through the $92,000 level and make an attempt toward $100,000. A decisive move above these levels would help stabilize market sentiment and reduce volatility, two factors that historically give altcoins room to perform.
Ethereum’s Role: ETH/BTC Must Hold the 20-Day MA
Van de Poppe emphasizes the importance of the ETH/BTC pair. To sustain altcoin momentum, he wants to see the ratio remain above the 20-day moving average. The strength that ETH has already shown this past month is, in his words, a “great sign,” and a continued hold above trend would confirm an early shift in market structure.
Gold, Silver, and Nasdaq Need Clear Signals
The trader also points to macro correlations. He notes that gold ideally needs to correct 5–10% in a single week, while silver should begin to peak. A short-term correction in metals would typically reflect a rotation back into risk assets. At the same time, he wants to see the Nasdaq break upward, signaling renewed momentum across broader tech markets.
These factors together, Bitcoin strength, ETH/BTC stability, metal corrections, and Nasdaq upside, form the cluster of signals he watches before expecting a large altcoin move.
A Potential 200–300% Altcoin Rally
If all these signals align, van de Poppe believes the market could be gearing up for a powerful altcoin cycle. He says these developments would be “the first signals to assume that we can expect a rally of 200–300% on altcoins.”
